Every beat of the video there is a jump cut of the drummer moving across the screen. The effects of these jump cuts are the most important part of the video due to the concept used throughout. The use of sudden transition between transitions very effective and impeditive to the concept and allows the “drum train to keep momentum as it moves from shot to shot.
Camera
There is a very varied use of camera angle and shots throughout the course of the video varying from low angle extreme close ups to high angle long shots. Despite the vast array of shots and angles the whole video uses fixed angles these is important to the concept of the “drum train” and makes the stop motion aspect of the video look a lot better. The use of more long shots around 2:29 helps the video show progression from just a line of drums to complicated shapes and sequences.
Mise-on-scene
The colour of the white stripes instruments and clothing (using bright red in quite grey dull places) is a hint towards there genre and the anti commercialism aspect of the video. The drums and other equipment being used as props and multiplying as the band members and move on is the most important part of the videos concept and creates an after effect of the bands movements. There is very little use of darkness in the video it is because of this lighting that the band along with the entire after image drums and equipment is kept in focus the entire video thus keeping the concept consisting through the video.
What aspects will I use in my video?
I will be using the aspect of the singers location change in time to the song but instead of on each beat I will usually be changing at the end of a line or verse. I will also be using the fixed camera angles when I am doing this to help make my video concept as clear to the viewer as possible.
